STEVIN ROCK WELCOMES A DELEGATION FROM THE CHINA AGGREGATES ASSOCIATION

Stevin Rock LLC proudly welcomed on Thursday 18 April 2019 a delegation from the China Aggregates Association headed by its President Mr Hu Youyi.

The Chinese delegates were senior representatives of the construction industry in China that consumes over 15 billion tonnes of sand and aggregates per year for major multi‐billion US dollars infrastructure projects including high speed railways, airports and mega housing complexes.

The Chinese authorities have banned extraction of natural sand from rivers and sea and have also cracked down on all non‐compliant extraction sites resulting in shortages of construction sand and aggregates.

The delegates were very impressed with Stevin Rock operations and the scale of its Khor Khuwair limestone quarry that is the largest one in the world with a capacity of over 60 million tonnes per year and they expressed a keen interest in potential imports of Stevin Rock’s products into China.

Stevin Rock’s General Manager, Mr Naser Bustami, said: “We were very pleased and honored to welcome this high‐powered Chinese delegation to our Khor Khuwair operations in Ras al Khaimah and this visit was the result of numerous exchanges and trips to China over the past few months by Stevin Rock’s management. We believe that Stevin Rock can play an active role in the spectacular development of the Chinese infrastructures by supplying high‐quality manufactured sand and aggregates for the production of high‐performance concrete needed in airports and other strategic projects”. Mr Bustami added: ”The proximity of Saqr Port with its new deep‐water berths that can accommodate capesize bulk carriers creates a unique synergy that will enable Stevin Rock to export its high‐quality rock products to China and other markets in South‐East Asia”.
